Bird: are you talking about a regular ATM card ("standard debit card") with the ability to perform PIN-based purchases, or an enhanced ATM card ("Check Card") which can also be used to make signature-based VISA / MasterCard purchases?

Regular ATM cards and Check Cards are both considered "debit cards". Even an ATM card linked to a savings account, which sometimes can't be used for PIN-based purchases, is classified as a "debit card" by the banks.

Are you opposed to using any kind of ATM card, or opposed specifically to check cards?
