Soon, Eastman was meeting face to face at Trump’s urging with the attorney general, William Barr, and telling him how Trump could unilaterally impose limits on birthright citizenship.

Eastman argued that Trump could use his executive authority to impose limits on birthright citizenship — the foundational concept that anyone born in the United States is automatically a citizen — by saying it should not be applied to people born in the United States to noncitizens.

It's that sort of thing I saw coming more than 15 years ago, and spurred the search to find documentation that both of my parents were born here.
