From what I understand, 80% of all pot for sale comes from the black market. No license, no tax paying required, support of the Mexican/Columbian cartels. The cartels can continue to drop prices if ever challenged by the legal companies producing, selling weed.
In America, it's illegal for anyone involved in liquor sales to buy and sell moonshine. Illegal in all 50 states. All liquor requires licenses and state tax numbers. Yet in Canada, you can buy and sell weed from drug cartels legally and never HAVE to support the legal companies. Why would I, as a store owner trying to make a profit, buy legal weed at a higher price? Haven't read anywhere to date that this is changing anytime soon. How can this be? It is foreseeable that cartels could even obtain licenses and tax ID's and become legal if the laws DID change. They aren't going to sit back and watch the train pass them by. I could see using various shell companies, offshore accounts, whatever means necessary to remain a leader in the game. Who knows, they could even disrupt legal growers in any number of ways. Hobbling their ability to remain a competitor. What the hell is Canada doing?
