How is this a non-financial board?
Umm, Quicken is financial software!

I posted a request to reconsider the removal - it's on the Improve the fool board.

Thanks for all the help through the years.
I've learned alot by question, both by my own questions and others...

Best to you!

Quicken software has been instrumental in tracking my personal finances. This board has been instrumental in helping me understand how to effectively use Quicken. I thank you all for the help I've received and hope that in some small way I've helped to pass it on to others.

That said, if this is a non-financial board, well that's one of the most foolish things I've ever heard on this site. Amuse, Educate & Enrich? Not so much anymore.

I am going to push for this board to remain open.

Who wonders how you would feel about broadening the topic to Financial Management Software...

Fuskie,

I like the idea of recommending that this board be renamed to the Financial Management Software board.

Great idea, and let's hope the powers that be accept your proposal!!

Thanks!

I don't have much hope. I pointed out that Quicken is financial in focus, and was told that Quicken has its own support community, making this one redundant.

Who will try again with the new board name proposal...

I don't have much hope. I pointed out that Quicken is financial in focus, and was told that Quicken has its own support community, making this one redundant.

Well then, that's interesting.
TMF seems to want to go to targeting folks with financial concerns and limiting the focus on 'the community' aspect of TMF.

Let's see,
there's
Bogleheads
Mr. Money Mustache
and more.

Does that mean that TMF is redundent?
Apparently.

For electrical fixes or buying a home, are there other websites?
Sure thing! Youtube, this old house, etc etc etc

So what did TMF offer that helped build a real community?
One stop shop, with posters freely giving their expertise to help the community. And through that community, the posters knew they were getting info from people invested in the Community.

Hope you share these thoughts with the powers that be.

Nag, I hear you. And one thing I can tell you is that TMF is not interested in my pressing this issue further. I have made the case and it was countered at every turn. They went through all the My Life boards and decided which would live on and which would not. I am not aware of any board getting a reprieve.

Who notes it you can request a Quicken or Financial Management Software channel be created...

Another note, I'm not a Quicken user, any more, we have a service, else we do it in spreadsheets, etc...

That said, there are a few in other boards, like RELE that paralleled onto Facebook, which has more advantages than negatives, full personal control of who you are seen by or see, blocking, banning, maybe a bit of a learning process, but I've been on FB many years now, admin several groups, the larger nearing 10k folks.. Not all active, maybe some were just passing through, but others in local history, hard to beat as it draws out local folks with tales to tell..

I know RELE has a Group, haven't seen others yet...

Sorry to read that this group of board is chopped, the Apple User? Really? Yet the same on the PC side is OK? Nonsense.. Spreadsheets, computers of all sorts, Internet, spreadsheets, all have to do with our investments.

But, it's a free set of boards, privately help, but as noted, so much for community spirit... Thanks to Fuskie for all his efforts, it's not the end of the world, but for many it was a goodly chunk, and a handy resource...

This hardline chopping makes many of us pretty grumpy.. We did, for a time, pay a small fee, or were comped for participation, but I guess even those days are long gone...
