Bogleheads (.org), proponents of low cost investing (from John Bogle) and a 2 or 3 fund portfolio have a lot of people investing in TIPs. I could never figure that out since in the best case you are treading water (i.e., nearly 0% real return).

Some people like the I-Bonds and the current 3.54% inflation portion of the yield but that can change (I think that portion is adjusted every 6 months) and the other fixed rate is at 0%. Usually $10K is the limit for them.
