As many of you know, I dive library discards from the library dumpster. Our library (and at least one other in our county) throws out hundreds, maybe thousands of books a year. Yes, they have semi-annual book sales. They throw out more books than ever when they're preparing for that.

Anyway, I can sell maybe 25%-50% of what I dive on and Amazon. The rest I donate. I give the kids' books plus some educational stuff to a rural school system with lots of new English speakers. Everything else goes to Goodwill.

A few weeks ago, I made a run to the aforementioned school system and gave them about 400 books, plus several bags of clothes that my kids had outgrown. I donated a lot of these books directly to the kids, and of course the clothes all went right to the kids, too. On Saturday, I donated 609 books and some more clothes to Goodwill.

I'll do this a couple of times this year. It feels great! And selling the rest of the books goes far towards DH's and my IRA contributions!
