Boulton first called Lightning captain Dave Andreychuk, his teammate on the Buffalo Sabres during Boulton's first two seasons in the league.

Andreychuk "went in the locker room and told the guys he didn't mean to do that," Wulkan said.

"Eric talked to the kid, and Ranger knew it was an accident."

Wulkan said Boulton is "not a cheap-shot type of player" and noted that Boulton called him after the game upset about the incident.
