Probably too simplistic, but I haven't seen any counter evidence yet.Suppose ID is an attempt to provide evidence for Creationism via Science. Then the reactions you see make sense. You said earlier "ID has metaphysical implications for me . . . I see evidence for a creator, for God." You believe that ID is evidence for your God.IMO, the only reason that ID doesn't specify the designer is so that it can pass the non-religious test to get into public schools. Still, it shouldn't affect the Science behind ID whether or not the designer is specified. But our laws do affect it.
