After his fevers subsided, he suffered from “post-influenzal manifestations,” psychotic delusions and visions that resulted from damage to the nervous system. He became paranoid. Wilson thought the French had spies all around him. He was bizarrely obsessed with his furniture and his automobiles, and pretty much everyone around him noted it. He, if fact, suffered from temporary psychosis, but never did recover mentally 100%.

Fortunately he didn’t have an election which he fantasized he won and but actually substantially lost and then dragged the country through weeks of fruitless and meritless court filings, all the while weakening people’s trust in elections and in government at a critical time in history.

That’s the kind of psychotic delusion and bizarre obsession I worry about. Lucky that didn’t happen.
