...but I guess the spammer purchased a 'block' of numbers...

From what I can tell the spammers don't bother with that these days, they just fake what number they are calling from. Most of the spam calls to my cellular are from the same area code and exchange as the phone, and though I block each one it doesn't help because they keep changing the number.
