But I wonder if what the Puritans did in New England can be extrapolated to what the Anglicans did in Jamestown. Maybe.

I doubt it. Jamestown was established for trade and commerce as well as settlements. In New England almost everyone came there because they wished to be free to worship the way they wanted. [This did not cause them to offer this same freedom to others. Their treatment of the Quakers and Baptists was awful].

Plus, many of the Puritan ministers were being harried in England. Getting to Boston and the other colonies left them free and able to live in peace.

I've learned so much history since I started working on my genealogy. I thought I had a pretty good grasp of Colonial History, and I'd barely scratched the surface.
