Really, I mean it. This is absolutely, positively the best commercial I've seen all year -- maybe in several years. See if you agree.www.averagjoe.com/BestCommercial.asf~aj
Hi,That one has my vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, VOTE.... This is one of those occations where I would like more than one rec fo a post....That should happen every time our troops pass by. And I think I will have to switch brands of beer..
Perhaps your best post ever.Keith

....then simply thank a military member the next time you see one.......or buy THEM a Bud!Why do you hate our troops? :) - Gus
Yeah, that kind of got to me.
....then simply thank a military member the next time you see one.......or buy THEM a Bud!Yoda*Vet*Agree with the sentiment. Just do it.However, Ken, we've know each other for what – six years now? I never knew you were a medical practitioner in animal husbandry.MichaelR
That ad isn't about supporting our troops. It's about selling us beer.H
That ad isn't about supporting our troops. It's about selling us beerI disagree. If they wanted to sell beer they could have used this one.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opHo2rDVKeU

"That ad isn't about supporting our troops. It's about selling us beer."Yeah, but the ad succeeded in bringing a tear to the eye of this crusty vet, and that's not an easy task. Conversely, it failed to create an urge to run out and buy a six-pack of their product. If the soul purpose of the ad was to sell beer, something like this probably would have worked better:www.goodtimejoe.com/clips/tna.wmv~aj
You know, I like the commercial, but I wish for once, just once, someone in the movies or the ad business would get the uniforms right.
I was told by my very detail-oriented, crusty Army-Vet of a dad that there's some kind of Hollywood ordinance (tradition, not law) that states uniforms for military and police cannot be totally authentic. Usually, this means the ribbons are screwy or such, but totally rigging them incorrectly or swapping out gear could do it.Part of me thinks that someone told him that to get him to stop muttering under his breath about the stupidity of prop people during movies. My dad's mutters can usually be heard clear across a crowded room.
I actually think it is federal law to impersonate a member of the armed forces, which is why they always alter the uniforms. I know it's nerdy, but it bugs me. Go with the Denzel Washington thing from "Crimson Tide" - no socks. You're still technically out of uniform, thus not impersonating, but at least the big stuff is right. Cheers, Kevin
