Hi Fools,

This is my first opportunity to post on this board. I'm a California resident and I've been trying to determine if there is a way to put my portfolio into a Nevada LLC, a state with no taxes, and using the company to capture the dividends and capital gains, but allow me to control them without having to claim it as 'out of state income?'

I've also read that holding companies based in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden are dividend tax exempt, as part of double-taxation treaties. Somehow I doubt they are tax free in their home countries, though.

California has laws about income earned within its borders, and taxing 'income' received from out of state. Can I legally have a Nevada holding company that spends money/dividends in all of my interests, without me actually 'owning' those items (house, car, etc.)?

I realize this may sound crackpot, but maybe an out of state corporation can justify it, because I don't technically get any income from it, transferred across the CA border to me, and its not earned within the state of CA, either.

If nothing else would anything like this reduce my dividend tax rate from the full 15%? Maybe a Dividend Received Deduction?

Any ideas guys, or is this doomed to failure?
