CAFO = Confined Animal Feeding Operation

These are the crowded feedlots for cattle/steers, pigs, chicken and turkey houses, farmed salmon pens, farmed catfish ponds, farmed oyster ??whatever those are called??, etc. I.e Industrial "meat" production.

Those who push the "natural, grass-fed, wild-caught" etc memes say that the "CAFO industrial meat production" process produces lower nutritional quality food.

The typical USDA prime meat, with fat "marbled" into muscle, is a product of a CAFO in which the animal is "fattened" so that the rancher can get the highest price.

At least, that's the way I understand the USDA grading system to work.

A good well marbled slab of steak is... Well, since I have gout, beef is NOT what's for dinner 🙂
