California utility regulators have quietly tabled a controversial plan made public last month that would drastically reduce the benefits provided to homeowners with rooftop solar panels.

The new Solar fee changes for solar panel homes is not going away. Gov Newsom turned critical after there was much ado from solar installation companies and thousands of home owners who are paying tens of thousands of dollars for their systems.
The proposal, which changes California’s Net Energy Metering rules, would charge solar homes $60 a month and reduce by 80%, how much residents get paid for electricity generated by rooftop solar panels that goes back to the grid for sale by the utility companies.

Newsom said. “I just had a chance to review and I’ll say this about the plan: We still have some work to do.”

Translation: there definitely will be a monetary impact for homes with solar panels.

This is an interesting dilemma going forward for solar power and how utility companies will be able to support the grid
