Can anyone here comment knowledgeably on the "Body Scan" procedure? Much less expensive than a colonoscopy, and much more comfortable. Is it worth doing?

I did some research because I was not particularly impressed with the center where my husband had his colonoscopy. I would dispute the "much more comfortable." The prep is the same and my lack of comfort was from not eating and from chills during the prep. Also, from what I have read, the air still has to go in and that was the least comfortable part and I had some drugs in me. No drugs for the body scan. As someone else mentioned, if they find anything, you go through the whole thing again for a regular colonoscopy. My advice would be to ask around and find an gastro doc and a center that people recommend and do the regular procedure.

There are studies out there that also show the scan is less effective in detection. Look at the CDC site - I think that's where I found it.
