I was going to wait until the end of next week since the month ends then, but stuff is happening, worth a comment.

Well, I got cut badly playing with "falling knife" CanRoy- Enterra Energy, ENT. My fault, I abandoned one of my CanRoy sanity-check criteria, --CanRoy debt load. I started my position before the ENT management flight- first the CFO (Sept 7th),

then the COO of American Operations (Sept 17).

The terrible noise wasn't the door being slammed, but the roof caving in on ENT. On Sept 17, the trust also announced the suspension of its monthly distribution for at least 6 months- Ack!

If it was only ENT, I would have waited till next week. Not as severe, but it turns out Pengrowth PGH is also reducing its distribution by 10%. With the Canadian dollar on par with the US dollar currently, that 10% trim could potentially have sneaked under the radar.

I guess I need to go back to being more vigilant about the safety of the distribution. PVX (12c/unit) and CNE (19c/unit) have confirmed their September 2007 distributions- no reduction. Perhaps a good reminder about not being too complacent and actually going to verify.

Okay, there is some rumor of Canadian provincial authorities, specifically Alberta's, are looking at raising royalty resource rates. Haven't seen an official statement, but the Canadian Boards might have some updated info.

Data-points- perhaps they partially explain why CanRoys are acting nervous lately
