We have spent the week in Carlsbad-by-the-sea. It's only 100 miles from home, but it's an adventure for us, and we actually plan to retire here.

For an "adventure" we took the commuter train into San Diego's "Old Town". It's touristy, but fun. Spent yesterday exploring the environs - found shopping centers, grocery stores, etc. We actually applied for the retirement home more than a year ago (They have a waiting list - seems odd to me to be waiting for someone to die.) They actually have available apartments, but we aren't quite ready to move, but we got to see the apartments up close and personal to be sure what we may be getting. We still like.
