Does anyone here live in or plan to live in a Continuing Care Retirement Community? We find the idea intriguing.;_ylc=X3oDMTFiaHBhMnJmBF9TAzI...

These are residential communities for older folks. Maybe a derivative of the Del Webb communities (which still exist, I believe) which are for older folks, with various features designed to make older residents comfortable, and integrated into a community of one's peers. They typically offer the entry level "independent living", with increasing levels of care available as one ages, right up to skilled nursing care. I tried in vain to interest my parents is this concept, but when I said "Continuing Care Residential Communities" all Mom could hear was "Nursing home". (She seemed to have a hearing problem.)

The advantages I perceive include a community of one's peers; age, financial, and interests. Organized activities available in many areas of interest. Some meals included (if desired/needed). If you have an interest in collecting belly button lint, you could likely find others who share your interest.

We are just starting to explore the possibilities. Is anyone here interested in this sort of thing?
