I have a yard sale birdhouse with multiple entry holes and perches. I paid fifty cents for it. It also had no roof. My hubby put a roof on it and set it atop a teteur which now has morning glory climbing up the slats. As for the birdhouse, hubby offered to patch up all the holes except a front entry hole. I told him nah, leave it as it is. He even added a small finial to the top of the roof. I had remained unoccupied for three years. Except this year, it now has a nesting house wren. Love its call and enjoy seeing it go in and out of the house. It's finished its nest and hopefully there will be baby wrens in a couple of weeks or so. I can observe it directly from the kitchen window so I'll be able to see all the activity. Another birdhouse has a second brood of English sparrows. Almost directly beneath that is a patch of bee balm that's frequented by hummingbirds. Lots of bird things going on this year.
