I had quite a shock today.

Because of a keto diet, I haven't used insulin or metformin for several years.

I live in a retirement community. We got a new chef in late December, so I've been eating a number of non-keto foods to check out her dishes (my excuse is that I'm on the food committee). So my blood sugar has been higher lately (120-150 vs 95-110).

We had a brunch today. In addition to the keto choices of salmon, steak, chicken, bacon, and sausage, I cheated by having several servings of mashed potatoes, some cheese blintzes, an eclair, and a slice of chocolate decadent cake, between 11:30 am and 1 pm.

I checked my blood sugar at 4:30, expecting is to be over 150.

It was 102!

I figured I got a bad reading, so checked it again. 104!

I am dumbfounded.
