Chickens are kept in small cages with minimal bedding. The eggs often have poop on them. Selling eggs with poop on them does not go over well with consumers.

One option might be, don’t keep them in small cages.

I’m paying around 50% more to get non-caged chicken eggs. I think it’s worth the money, mostly for animal welfare reasons. But I too prefer not to have poop on my eggs.
