I would like to raise cash. I can either sell stocks held long term already or exercise options (and sell) that are way in the money. If I sell stocks I pay less tax now. If I hold the stocks and they continue to increase, however, I retain more of the gain at a later selling date than I would if I exercised the options later. I think I am better off exercising the options. Any opinions?
