For the next 7 weeks, through the Holiday Season we'll all watch slick television marketing teams try to wrap the BSC National Title game in gorgeous paper topped with an elegant bow and read and listen to the college football pundits try to get you excited about opening that present from grandma, just like your parents did, and as you dive under the tree with gleeful anticipation and rip the paper off the oversized box, tear the flap open and dig through the crushed paper you reveal to yourself little more than a 3-pack of underwear. “Thank you, grandma”, you say after being reminded by your parents.

There simply was no other contest this year that even came close to the present that these two schools provided under the College Football tree this year.

There simply won't be BCS game that can live up to it this year. Even though a rematch might be the best lineup in the BCS it couldn't deliver the same excitement as the one just played.

I'm a Michigan fan and I'm bothered by the loss but am not in favor of a rematch because this game between Ohio State and Michigan lives in the context that it has always been played in. It's a battle that comes between two teams that 90% of time is played to decide who wins the Big Ten title and goes the better post season game. This years game was different in that 1 vs. 2 were playing for the National Title. The Rematch comes next year at the end of the regular season and that's where it belongs as it has always been.

But make no mistake and don't be fooled by the pundits that have to hype the BSC games this year like grandma's present. Yesterday's game was The Game this year; The National Championship Game. Ohio State won.
