The link below takes you to a chart of Blackrock closed end muni bond funds. The funds trade at a discounts of 6 to 27%. The tax free distributions range from 6-9%. These funds use leverage and have had a terrible year like all bond funds. At these prices, however, I am starting to apply some of my fixed income dollars to acquire these funds. I believe that over the next 12-18 months much of the fear in the market will abate and that bond prices will increase and that the closed end discounts will narrow. In the meantime, I am earning a nice tax free distribution. This approach is not for the rent money.
