Why would you do Scenario Two?

I don't know. There are some odd rules in the financial rules and I've gotten mixed signals regarding this topic ... that's why I'm asking for clarification.

This is a 401k board but I gather you are talking about Roth and Traditional IRAs, not 401ks.

Yes, I'm talking about IRA's. Sorry for posting in the 401k board ... I didn't readily see an IRA board; Maybe I missed it.

you would not necessarily have to deposit funds back into the same Roth IRA but it does have to be contributed to a Roth IRA within 60 days in order to avoid premature distribution penalties...
