Congrats on the ace!! I missed a hole-in-one by 6 inches two weeks before X-mas which would have been my first one. My father-in-law played the same course with me a week later and missed a hole-in-one by less than a ball-width on the same hole just moments after hearing my tale from the previous week. We played again on X-mas eve at a different course (Mountain House Golf Course) which I'd never played and it was so foggy the visibility was roughly 50 yards. I came to hole #8 which was listed at 161 yds to a downhill green. I hit a 7-iron with a little fade to the left-hand side of the green where the pin was located but lost sight of my ball. It took me five minutes to finally find my ball which was in the bottom of the cup!! I finally got my first hole-in-one but didn't get to see it. :-( My only consolation was that I had witnesses with me to confirm that it was my ball that was in the cup.
