Credit to Tim for conceiving the Scrooge portfolio, and for writing this column every year for the last five years. The performance results have exceeded my expectations (not sure about Mile High, though...he is tougher to please.)

In particular, I salute Tim for sitting out 2008. Although that column would have been easier to write with a few stock picks, zero companies passed all seven screens, and Tim said so. Over the next twelve months the S&P 500 fell about 41%, meanwhile. On a loss of that magnitude you need to make 69% to get back to even. That's hard.
