Dumpster diving has been a problem forever.

One of the Radio Shacks I worked in was a free standing building. I walked out of the store one day and saw two guys who had pulled their car up next to the dumpster. One was in the dumpster, digging through the stuff we had thrown out.

We had to smash the product we threw out almost beyond recognition, so that people wouldn't dig it out of the dumpster, bring it into the store and demand a cash refund.

One day, one of the dumpster divers left a note on the door of the store, objecting to our smashing the stuff we tossed, and he squirted glue in the door's lock cylinder to make his point.

Now that is chutzpah.
