This is a wakeup call to a basic axiom: You get what you pay for! You want cheap, you get cheap.

Why do you think that taxes and cancellation fees don't apply to you. Rules is rules, regardless if the tickets were free.

If you agree to something and they deliver within those guidelines, whats the beef? Whats your expectations, for it to be first class direct?

Nothing irritates me more than some indignant irate customer who thinks that if he yells loud enough and long enough that he or she will get their way. GROW UP!
