4 years, $160+ million! $75M in the first season plus a $66M signing bonus.

What the heck does Dallas have left in cap space?!

https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/dallas-cowboys/

Wow, they look like they are only $1.1M over the cap!

Simon

PS: Big Ben signed a one year deal for $14M...guess he's coming back....

I was coming here to post this. This is one hellvua big contract and very player friendly. Other teams will have a tough time matching this for their QBs.

I still go back to Brady and winning championships. I know the Tom/Gisele household didn't rely on his salary to pay the mortgage but if you're a QB, is it about getting paid or winning? When your salary is approaching 1/3 of the cap how can the team win long term?

Player friendly contracts are great for the players that get them, but who's taking a pay cut to pay Dak?

I’m a die-hard Cowpokes fan (tonyromo) but verified Jerry Jones hater going all the way back to the 70’s when he bought the team...

I’m not in favor of giving a maybe a Top 10 QB 40 Million a year...

these huge QB contracts are a drain on salary cap and make players immovable unless you’re going to eat much of contract...

I like Dak but I don't see how this doesn't come back to bite them. Maybe the cap expands enough they can afford talent around him, I dunno.

I'm not sure if you call it research when it's one click on overthecap.com but apparently because of the way it's framed, Dak's hit on the team ranges from $22.2M (2021) to $47.2M (2024) in cap space. It looks like his $66M bonus gets prorated over 5 years.

Does he play in 2026 and get no money? I don't understand the VOID years. It looks like it's paperwork voodoo and his contract really ends in 2024.

So his cap hit isn't as much as I thought thanks to ...rules.

As I understand it, the void year means the player isn't under contract, but it allows the team to spread the signing bonus over more years.

Cowboys will never win anything with Jerry at the helm.
