Damn sum-a-bitch government! They should have let a private company build that bridge and then charge a toll to everyone that uses it. Much better.

Or the city could have paid for it. They tried to float a $65,000,000 bond to rebuild the main branch of the library but it failed to pass. I'm sure the voters would have been far more likely to approve a $23,000,000 bond for a bridge (two, actually) that is VERY highly used. But they didn't even try. Just asked Rep. John Dingell (D-lifetime appointment) for the money, he was more than happy to come out, do a dog-and-pony show for the voters and now all you good people who will never use the bridges get to pay for them.
