Darling International Inc. (DAR) today reported fourth quarter net income of $28.8 million, or $0.24 per share, and net income of $130.8 million, or $1.11 per share, for its fiscal year ended December 29, 2012.

Looks like fat prices are down primarily due to reduced global biodiesel demand and an increase in supply of competing fats for animal feed. The drop in net sales was partially offset by a slight increase in pet food grade poultry meal and California protein prices.

As for Diamond Green Diesel: Diamond Green Diesel construction progressed and we anticipate a second quarter 2013 commissioning.
