Softball: Greece was given the mercy rule in the 5th inning and the game ended, USA 7, Greece 0.

Keelboat Yngling Race 10-USA-Carol Cronin, Liz Filter, and Nancy Haberland take first.
Single-handed Dinghy-Europe Race 7-Meg Galliard of the USA finishes 11th, in Race 8 she takes 16th.

Beach Volleyball: Ricardo/Emanuel (BRA) beat Holdren/Metzger (USA).

Water Polo: Hungary wins over the US 7 to 5.

50m Freestlye Semifinals

100m Butterfly Semifinals
Going to the finals are: Michael Phelps, with a new Olympic record, Ian Crocker (USA), and Geoff Huegill (AUS).
200 IM Finals
Michael Phelps (USA) won Gold with a new Olympic Record, Ryan Lochte (USA) with Silver, Bronze Medalist George Bovell is the first to win a swimming medal for Trinidad/Tobago, Laszlo Cseh (HUN) was 4th.
200m Backstroke Finals
Aaron Peirsol (USA)-Gold with a new Olympic Record. Judge ruled an illegal turn on his last turn. USA filed a protest. End result was that Aaron Peirsol was reinstated as the Gold medal champion.
