Get a grip.

The vagaries of Hillary Clinton, Sumner Redstone's dating habits, or the color of Mel Karmazin's socks has nothing to do with the share price of Viacom.

That is, and will be determined, by the financial success of the company.

In case you haven't noticed, there is an advertising slowdown going on and a general fear of recession looming. The foot on the throttle now belongs to W, and still to Greenspan, and they will determine how our economy shapes up in the next year or two.

The stocks of Disney and of Fox and of most other media companies are being assailed at the moment, and Rupert Murdoch's dating pecadillos and Michael Eisner's salary component (which far exceeds any Hillary Clinton advance) don't seem to have a thing to do with it.

Really. Get a grip.
