Deb in 122:
David talks about Dell being top dog in the PC manufacturing industry. I've always been confused about the Dell and Compaq competition. If Compaq has more revenues, I see that as making more money. Is it because Dell is just a larger company, or is it giving more of its money to the stockholder? (yes, I am a Compaq stockholder)

This response is rather belated,so maybe you've found your answers already.I've seen both Dell and CPQ referred to as the #1 computer maker, too.(I'm long Dell, btw.I bought CPQ 2 years ago, sold it after a year at a slight loss and bought Dell.)

A short answer is that Dell's profit marginsand business model make it a top dog in its industry. It's an amazing company.

There were some good columns in the Rule Maker nightly Reports just week or two ago on Dell;maybe you saw them.If not, search the archives there. And check out the Dell and CPQ message boards.
Hope this helps,
