Decath & DT,

Kudos to you both. Although it's not too popular or PC to say so, your kids and society in general are better off with SAHMs. We chose that route, and don't regret it a bit. We heard time and again how others "wished" they could afford that luxury, but in many or most cases, it's simply a choice. It's very rewarding for everyone involved... keep up the good work...

We are 47 and both kids in college. But we have always tried to LBYM and while I have usually had a decent salary, our HH income pales by comparison to many of our friends and relatives' household incomes. We didn't live like paupers, but never worried too much about the biggest vehicle, or the kids (or us) having all the latest toys, etc. We did manage to aquire some rental properties that my DW manages as a part time job, and within 4 years we should be FIRE if we "choose" (duhhhh...). At that point I hope to pursue some writing, music, photOgraphy interests which may earn a little income that hopefully will be excess funds.

Keep your eye on the prize, and enjoy the trip, as well as the destination.

-Andy & Cindy
