Depends on the audience. Is it for your extended family, church, community potluck? Foodies, lovers of traditional food, any children? Do you need the dish to be gluten-free, sugar-free, red-meat-free?

I make Italian meatballs and sauce w/wine, herbs, mushrooms, and funky locatelli romano. I've made several recipes for Swedish meatballs, all pretty good but none super-fab, Chinese pork meatballs (like wonton innards) in salty, garlicky pork broth with shredded Chinese cabbage, beef meatballs in beef gravy, chicken meatballs in piccata sauce... I've eaten sweet & sour meatballs (like sweet & sour pork) and beef meatballs in BBQ sauce that were hits at events.
