Did you turn off the gas to everything? Or just to the grill? If shutting it down covered the stove, hot water, dryer, standby generator, or other devices... well NG is serious stuff and I would call. Certainly anything with a pilot light becomes dangerous. If you just shut off a line to the grill, I guess I would find it hard to see the point.

To say nothing about what your insurance company would say if the house burned down after you turned it on yourself.
