Different countries have different rates of inflation, and thus different prevailing interest rates. The local interest rate itself is meaningless, unless you also examine the rate of devaluation of the native currency at the same time. Go ahead and invest, if you want, but don't be surprised to see your returns decimated by the currency exchange rate when you try to repatriate your funds.
