Does anyone have any advice on seam finishes that I could use which will look professional for the parts which are not lined (i.e. pants)?

What fabric will you be using? If you are using really nice quality fabric and you are planning on wearing the outfit for a while, I'd go ahead and put in a lining anyway, even if the pattern didn't call for it. Otherwise, I'd put in a Hong Kong seam finish. It's pretty easy (although a bit time consuming), doesn't add a lot of bulk and looks very nice.,2025,DIY_14144_2276784,00.html
