I'm new to all of this and I posted this same question on another discussion board (perhaps the wrong one), so I thought I'd try this board.

I would like to know if there is a place I could download (into Excel) share statistics, preferably for entire market areas (for instance, all software and programming companies). Yahoo allows you to download selected statistics (see but I am interested in evaluating other items that aren't available for download at the previously referenced yahoo finance site, such as float, shares short, short % of float, etc).

Please let me know if there are other sites that allow one to extract this information without going to each individual stock and pulling out this information manually.
