I am looking for advice on where to find information on the options available for drafting a will and estate planning. I want to become educated on the options. Are there books for "do-it-yourself"? Is this a good idea?

There are lots of books, and IMFFHO, this is a lousy do-it-yourself project. Spend the money on a lawyer to make sure that what you want to happen happens.

You can get good do-it-yourself info from Nolo Press (nolo.com). However, I'd use the info only for educating myself, and then I'd go to a lawyer. A simple will should only cost you 2 or 3 hundred dollars, and if the will you need is NOT simple, that's all the more reason for professional help.

There are also two boards here at TMF you could look at, The Inheritance Strategies Board and The Estate planning Board.

As good an idea as taking an axe to your head after reading "Brain Surgery, Self-taught"
