Point taken with the arthritic knees, traffic jams....
I have learned to cut my shifting / clutching in half.
do you you really need to be right behind the person in front??
start out slow when a move comes and when the stop comes I have some room to go. Often the next move comes when I get close to the car in front.
Frequently idle or just off idle along in first. Yeah some rat ba$tard will occasionally decide your lane is better and squeeze in.

Thats when you squeeze off a few rounds as target practice.
Kidding.. actually just let it go. in the grand scheme of crap it is no biggie.

could be a quote from Zen and the art of traffic slowdowns but its not.

50% is still a lot of clutching.... /hour at 8mph

just got old after 15yrs of it.

otoh, when you get that old, you're better off not letting
others decide whether you're 'real'

best would be a trans that's manual when you Drive,
and auto when you 'ride'.

the clutch pedal less paddle shifters have potential here.

Personally prefer the old fashioned way but can image at a certain age it ain't what it used to be or not enjoyable.
