Hi there..I have a Roth IRA with Ameritrade. I have the money for next year's contribution of 2000 dollars and I want to be able to trade on the first trading day of the year. I cannot send that money in right now though, am I correct that it would be an "overcontribution" for this year if it makes it into my account before the 1st of next year? A few days won't matter but if i don't mail it in until the 1st and it then takes two weeks to show up in my account, i'm going to be annoyed LOL. Calls to ameritrade get me different answers. I just want to know if it does get into my account too soon will i then have problmes? if so then i just will pay it safe. Thanks
