On Nov 14th I owned 30,000 FB at an average price of 21.83. It was a Wednesday and the stock was below $20. I happened to look at the Nov 17th 22.50 calls and saw that I could easily pick up a grand in just three days by writing the calls, so I did. Wouldn't you know that FB banged up to almost $24 by Friday? I got my grand for my calls, made a good profit when my stock was called, but left about $50,000 easily on the table. The guy on the buy side of the calls made a bundle in three days. Now, that's dumb.
