Well, I just filled out the paperwork to consolidate my wifes student loan online with direct consolidation. When I checked the balance info etc on the EFS site, they had lowered her rate to 6.79% from 8.25%. I found it weird because 2 weeks ago, it was 8.25%. Plus, I thought that these loans were a fixed rate and it droped? Anyways, works out good for us now since the rate is lower and we will be signing up for them to have the $ auto debited from our checking account. Thus saving us some even more $$$. Hopefully, we will not have any snags since we have never consolidated any of my wifes student loans before.
I'll keep everyone posted as to the process.... (as if you will be glued here waiting!)
