I wish to nominate emiller8988 for the 2004 Feste Award.

I feel that nothing I can write will tell the true wealth of his contributions. He is a medical doctor with a passion for investing and a penchant for teaching. He has stories that teach and amuse at the same time. I feel that I have learned not just about investing from Dr e, but also about life… And I can't choose just 3 posts. I've linked to 7 of my favorite, plus 6 of his post of the day's at the end.

This is my all time favorite fool post, “Options and The Brazilian”, where e explains how he uses options to profit from irrational market events. It is intertwined with a story about a patient who taught him how to make the good decisions:

In another great post “the gumshoe tails,” which later turned into a series of posts, the doctor explains how he starts researching a company that presents itself as an opportunity, in the style of an old time police drama:

Dr e gives credit to a soon to be crowned TMFKitKat for her ability to not become attached to the companies she researches, and once again compares it to a medical story from his past, at the Mayo Clinic (world famous, for those in the know): http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=20868655

He shares a series of e-mails with his son, who had a horrible accident shortly after getting his driver's license at 16, on being responsible:
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=20940512

And who can forget e's description of a family meeting, where he compares his family's events to that of a public company, Miller Inc:
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=21008599

And let's not leave out the purely fun posts such as Alaska: http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=21006920

And finally, e tells about the night he saved a boy's life, and how someone else took all the credit:

These are some of my favorite posts of his. Most tell life lessons. Many are intertwined with investing lessons. But all are well written and a joy to read. I'm not the only one to think so, as he's had an amazing 6 PODs so far this year:

There is no way we could limit the description of Dr. Ed's contributions here to just 3 posts! That's like saying a rainbow only has three colours or that there is only one shade of blue in the ocean. His posts are eloquent, well written, substantive, amusing and telling of the experiences he has had.

Dr. Ed is part of what makes this community great. Reward him for it.

OK, if I haven't withdrawn my nomination already, I'd like to do that now.

Don't let that smarty pants overachiever get you down. Some of us prefer that our Feste candidates have a more "relaxed" demeanor.

Well, then, I might have my platform after all... or at least a plank.

OK, that last post surely sunk (or sank) my campaign for good.

swimdad, actually voted for the 89 billion before he voted against it

Just stay the course. Your defeat will be the stuff of legend.

PS - I've never used "stuff of legend" before. I think I like it.
