Hello all,

Forgive me if this has been brought up before. I've spent much of the morning browsing through this board (when the Fool hasn't been down) and have not found anything related.

My wife and I purchased our first home last year and it happens to be off the grid. At the time, I was told by the seller's agent that she understood we would qualify for some type of energy credit as we are powered exclusively by solar energy. I have looked all over the IRS site but can't find anything and just sat on hold with them for the last half hour, so I thought I'd bring the question here.

Is anyone familiar with this situation and would we qualify for any type of credit/deduction?

Thanks in advance!
Craig

I don't know about your state rules, but IIRC the federal credit for alternative energy was eliminated during the early Reagan years.

Several states have different types of energy credits. I would suggest you go to your state's tax website to find more information.
