The skirmishes that are going on between people who think intercst's study is sufficient and people who think it isn't are completely unproductive.

I would propose this:

1. People who think that intercst's study can be improved upon or replaced by a better study should begin to do so. If this involves a discussion of how to get a better study, fine, but getting sidetracked arguing with those who don't think it needs to be done is a waste of time.

2. People who think that intercst's study is sufficient should work on other issues that are important to potential early retirees. Criticism of potential alternative studies that haven't even been started yet is premature.

3. If an alternative is found and developed, then debate it - after it's been fully formulated.

We can argue forever about whether any additional work needs to be done. The only way to find out is to do the work and see if it reaches useful conclusions that are different from the existing study. Some will find that a waste of time. Some won't. But stop arguing about it! You won't really know until it's done.
